How to bake soft and tasty Chilli garlic Bread.

Chilli Garlic Bread…the name itself sounds Awesome! This bread is super soft and full of flavours from freshly grounded garlic & red chilli. While baking Chilli Garlic Bread my kitchen was filled with aroma of garlic and sharp pungency of red chilli. This is one of the easy & tasty recipe of flavoured bread.

There are few bread recipe which are very popular like garlic bread, cheese bread and so on. But there are some flavoured bread recipe which adds different flavours to the usual bread. One flavoured bread I tried was Coriander pepper flavoured bread. Believe me the bread was so tasty and full of aromatic flavours.

Chilli Garlic Bread was a new recipe I tried today and it really came up wonderful. As garlic bread is a very common recipe so I thought to give an Indian style taste to the bread and that was adding red chilli. In India any savoury recipe is incomplete without the spice and by saying spice I mean red chilli or green chilli. The dish has to be spicy…”tikha and chatpata” then only the dish is tasty. So I tried to make this bread using red chilli. And here it is Chilli Garlic Bread just yummy. This chili bread taste amazing with any cheese.

Things to remember while making Chilli Garlic Bread

See that the yeast you use is active. Whenever you use a new pack of yeast check it by proofing. During this process the yeast eats on sugar and releases carbon dioxide making the liquid appears bubbly. This shows that the yeast is active and can be used for making the bread. (For proofing, in a bowl add 1/2 cup warm water. To this add 1 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp of dry active yeast. Give a stir. Cover and leave the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes. The mixture will become bubbly and form foam. This mixture is ready to use for making your bread.)

The measurements should be correct especially for the flour and yeast. The water quantity mentioned in the recipe is perfect for this recipe but still to avoid any error remove 1 to 2 tbsp of water from the mentioned quantity and add it if required while kneading the dough. The consistency of the dough should not be too tight nor should it be too watery. It should be enough so that we can handle the dough.

While making this recipe of Chilli Garlic Bread prepare the chilli garlic mixture first because it needs to be cooled down before adding to the flour.

1 cup in my recipe measures 200ml.

The quantity of red chilli powder in the chilli Garlic bread can be used according to your taste. 1 tbsp is enough spicy for those who like to eat spicy food. Reduce the quantity to ½ tbsp if you want a mild spicy taste.

Keep the dough for rising till it doubles in size. The time is always mentioned in the recipe but it always differs from place to place because of the weather of a particular place. A warm and damp place is suitable for the dough to rise quickly. So go according to the weather condition at your place, important thing to notice is that the dough should be double in size. Also don’t check frequently.

Preheat the oven just before baking time.

Taking care of above mentioned things, baking bread will not be so difficult specially for beginners. Cooking is an art and one can become perfect in it by trying and experimenting new recipes.

So  now let’s see how to make Chilli Garlic Bread.

 

Chilli Garlic

Ingredients:

  • Refined flour – 2 cups
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Dry active yeast – 2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Butter – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Red chilli powder(coarse) – 1 tbsp
  • Crushed or finely chopped garlic – 1 tbsp

Directions:

  • In a bowl take butter, garlic and red chilli powder.

 

 

  • Mix it thoroughly. Place the bowl on low flame till the butter just starts to melt. Keep stirring. Take the bowl away from the flame and let it cool down to room temperature. This step will give a nice red color to the mixture and the dough.

 

Chilli Garlic paste

 

  • In a bowl add warm water. To it add sugar and stir to dissolve it.

 

 

  • Add dry active yeast and stir. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

 

 

  • In another bowl take the refined flour. Add the chilli garlic mixture and mix proper with hand. The flour will get a nice color.

 

 

  • Now add the yeast mixture and using a spatula try to gather the flour together. You can see the red chilli flakes. 

 

 

  • Place the dough on a clean and flat surface dusted with some flour.
  • Knead the dough for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • After kneading the dough place it in a large bowl greased with oil.

 

 

  • Cover and keep in a damp place till it rise to double its size.
  • Take the dough on a flat surface and fold it to a loaf.

 

Chilli Garlic Bread

 

  • Place the dough on a baking sheet and keep it again to rise for 1 hour.
  • The dough will rise double to its size.

 

 

  • Brush the dough with butter.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180° C for 30 to 15 minutes or till golden brown.

  • After baking place the bread on a wire mesh and let it cool down to room temperature.

  • Store in a clean and air tight container and keep in refrigerator.
